Off Body Geometry is a tech twin hooping workshop focusing on off body pattern building and 3d framework. Class will start with a brief discussion on hybrids; what they are, how they can be subcategorized, and how they leave a lot of room open for exploration. We’ll then take Hand2Hand hybrids as a sub-focus and begin on an exploration of various ways to create hybrids through knowledge of terminology and application. Starting with the isolation vs. smear as the framework pattern to build upon, we’ll take commonly known movements and apply them in ways to create new hybrids. The second portion of the workshop will focus on creating our own framework for moving in 3D planes. Briefly discussing cross-prop manipulation and how hoops can also be used as a static prop similar to fans, we’ll start exploring 3D planes and how we can use them to create very visually dramatic patterns.
